From 1978 I taught Speech and Drama and Theatre Studies at two secondary schools in Scotland, rising to Head of Department in the second.
voice over
From 1980 I doubled as a voice over artist working across Scotland and the North of England.
broadcasting
I was recruited in 1991 by the BBC as a Presentation Announcer/Director. Five days out of seven I announced on-air, read news, narrated and played characters as required on both television and radio. I even read the Shipping Forecast.
other voice work
During the period I worked on BBC Television and Radio , I was also, for three years, the telephone voice of Sky Television, and I continued to provide voice over and narrations for a smaller range of clients.
post BBC
I left the BBC in 2013, returning to free lance voice work including television, radio and on-line ads, in-house training and e-learning. I trained in Gaming, Performance Capture and in ADR, have voiced both retail games and apps, and have narrated and produced at least one Audiobook per month.
